Are Artificial Wombs the Future?

In Europe, a team of 29 scientists, researchers, and engineers are working together across disciplines create a artificial womb.


The team hopes to increase the chances of survival in infants born before 28 weeks of gestation, when the lungs are developed enough to breathe normal air. Currently, an infant born at 24 weeks gestation has a 50% chance of survival.
